In 1983, Azar Fanous took a bold step that would forever change the course of his life. Working from a small office beneath his home in Amman, Jordan, he founded what is now known as Fanous Engineering Materials, a business specializing in construction materials and engineering expertise. Coming from a family with a strong background in accounting and banking, Azar was the first to break the mold. He believed deeply that his destiny wasn’t to work for someone else. As he often says, “If I sell cigarettes on the streets, it’s better than working for others”

With no experience in the industry and facing skepticism from those around him, Azar’s journey was anything but easy. However, through sheer hard work and an unrelenting dedication to his vision, he steadily grew the business from nothing. What began with just two workers and some modest equipment has now become a trusted name in Jordan’s construction sector, particularly known for waterproofing expertise. The company’s growth has been slow but intentional, ensuring that every step forward is backed by quality and experience. Today, Fanous Engineering Materials remains a family-run business, with Azar still at the helm. In 2019, his son, Adeeb Fanous, joined the company, bringing new ideas and fresh energy. Together, they continue to lead with the same commitment to quality and trust that has been the foundation of their success. Whether managing day-to-day operations or making key decisions, the family is involved at every level, ensuring that Fanous Engineering Materials remains true to its roots.
